Manonmaniam Sundarnar University (MSU), Tirunelveli, was established in 1990, as per the Act of 1990 by the Government of Tamil Nadu, as a Teaching –cum-affiliating University.
MSU is one of the pioneer institutions that offer Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS). The courses and research programs offered by the University have been carefully chosen after considering the contemporary times and needs of the region. The University Departments offer M.Phil and PhD Programs (Full time and part time) in addition to regular P.G. Programs.
UGC Accord and NAAC Accreditation
The University Grant Commission of India has accorded sanction to the University as fit for financial grants after due inspection, and the approval was formally made since March 29, 1994. The University was accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) of India with a “Five Star” status. All the University departments are receiving funded research projects from several funding agencies including those from India, European Union, UNICEF, USA, Japan, to name a few.
Colleges
The University has a strong network of 64 affiliated colleges and 40 community colleges having 50,000 students on its rolls. A few of these colleges have contributed significantly to the cause of higher education for well over 100 years. |
